Mid-March 2010 Catch-Up

It’s time to list the miscellaneous songs added since late January. Ideas for songs came primarily from the following sources:

1. My friend Alan Beveridge, who suggested songs from his native Scotland.
2. My friend Kyle Henderson, who offered up some of his favorites.
3. “Deep Blues” by Robert Palmer, a scholoarly look at the history of Delta Blues.
4. Rolling Stone article about Jeff Beck and Eric Clapton.

Here is the list of miscellaneous new songs. I was busy last month.

In the Rolling Stone article, Jeff Beck recalls how Jimmy Page played “Five Long Years” for Beck in an effort to entice him to replace Clapton in the Yardbirds. I bought three (used) CDs by Garth Brooks, Little Richard and AC/DC:

Good Golly Miss Molly (Alt), Little Richard ✭✭
Long Tall Sally (Alt), Little Richard ✭✭
Kansas City (Alt), Little Richard ✭✭

The Thunder Rolls, Garth Brooks ✭✭
The River, Garth Brooks

Yes is very impressive musically. I don’t understand the fascination with Peter Gabriel-era Genesis. Several kids on my floor in the college dormitory (3rd floor, Beckett-Hughes, U.C. Davis, 1977-79) really dug them. I still don’t get it.
